Contrast Top -Dual Layer
A sleeveless black top with a high neckline, featuring draped tulle at the front that extends to the floor.
The back remains minimal and open, creating a strong visual contrast between front and back.
This piece was developed through a collaborative and experimental process. Working with leftover fabrics, the group explored draping techniques directly on the mannequin, allowing the form to emerge intuitively. The process was guided but open, encouraging participants to play with proportion, layering, and movement. Rather than focusing on a fixed outcome, the piece reflects exploration, adaptability, and collective decision-making. It highlights how even leftover materials can lead to unexpected and meaningful design solutions.
The use of draping connects to traditional fashion techniques, where garments are shaped directly on the body or mannequin. In this context, it is applied in a spontaneous and experimental way, emphasizing process over predefined design.
The garment is made from leftover and unused fabrics found during the workshop process.
Eco-responsible Methods:
The piece follows an upcycling approach, giving value to materials that would otherwise be discarded. The design process was based on experimentation and direct making, reducing waste and avoiding unnecessary production steps.
The process
The garment was created using leftover fabrics that had no defined purpose at the beginning.
Through draping exercises on the mannequin, the group experimented freely until arriving at a form where tulle falls from the front of the top down to the floor. The back was intentionally left minimal, creating a contrast between front and back
