The dark fabric evokes the earth of Kherson’s fields; blue threads trace the marks of explosions and destruction; colorful fabric fragments reflect the grain-sown land in its living, vibrant state. The result is a composition that is at once powerful and delicate — a textile landscape suspended between damage and growth. The piece is a direct response to Kateryna’s memories of Kherson — its fields, its land, and the violence inflicted upon them. Through the contrast of destruction and life embedded in the fabric itself, the skirt becomes a meditation on pain, memory, and the enduring love for a homeland. It asks how a place can be wounded yet still carry meaning, and how that meaning can be translated into wearable form.
